Most people think glazing is for external walls only. But, in the right circumstances, a glazed screen unit can make a massive difference to a home’s livability.
This recent example has made a huge difference to this home in Lychpit, Basingstoke, by a family who had recently bought the property. The open-plan design of the house meant a lot of heat was being lost downstairs during the winter, especially from the kitchen area, with warm air drifting into the hallway and dissipating up the stairs.
The Origin internal door suite makes the difference. With a matt black aluminium frame carrying toughened 6mm plated glass, the large glazed doors mean the hallway stays light all year round, and the heat is captured where it’s needed most.
The design is finished off with deep lower kick panels across the doors and side panels with 15mm bespoke Georgian horizontal bars across the glazing.
The knurled brass door handles are complemented with four machined round butt hinges.
