In the next in our series of blogs from the Ripton family, Matthew Ripton tells you all about how cheap window frames can prove to be a false economy.

Cheap Windows

Recently we have had a fair number of customers asking for us to quote replacement conservatories, where we take down the existing conservatory and replace it with brand new Ripton Windows frames. Frequently our customers have a variety of reasons to replace their conservatories. This might be wanting a bigger size, choosing a different colour, wanting a style change or different type of door, or wanting a different type of roof. However, often it is because their original conservatory just doesn’t do the job that it is supposed to any more – this is often because of cheap windows.

Take the images above – these are frames from a conservatory that we have recently taken down. The roof was leaking, the gaskets had failed in the glass sealed units. Additionally, the sealed units had broken down, resulting in internal condensation. And while these problems occur occasionally, it will happen far more quickly with cheap window frames.

So what is the solution?

This is why I firmly believe that cheap window frames, whether they are installed in a conservatory or in a house, are a false economy. It may seem like you are saving money by choosing the cheapest window installer at the time. However, if you then have to replace the windows in five or ten years time, are you really saving the money? Cheap windows can even end up costing you more in the long run, with maintenance visits, and possible replacement.

I wholeheartedly believe that in choosing quality window frames which last you are making an investment in your house which will help you in the long run. This is why we at Ripton Windows are committed to installing high quality products which will last. We want our customers to know that we are focusing on their needs first. That is also why we always give you our best price first. We don’t do any of the ‘if you sign with us today we’ll cut the price in half’ business. I really believe in supplying a good quality product at a reasonable price – its one of our central principles.
